Bibliographic resources on environmental education include “Environmental Education” (Theobald and Rochon 2009), “Unequal Education” (Jewell 2008), “Informal Education” (Jeffs 2008), “USA Education” (Dinwiddie 2008), “Curriculum” (Gilbert 2008), “Teacher-Child Relationships” (Downer, Driscoll, and Pianta 2008), and “Education” (Thomashow 2016). The two that would seem most immediately relevant to environmental education are Theobald and Rochon (2009), and Thomashow (2016); but they both suffer from a limited notion of the “environment” of environmental education; see Proctor (2015). Students with an interest in education would best draw from the other resources on this page for a good grounding in educational theory and history, then synthesize this background with knowledge from other ENVS topics.
