New Inspiration for Interdisciplinary connections!

If you have been following my thesis thoughts and struggles, you will know that I have been in no mans land for a long time now. It is pretty awesome what a 10 minute conversation with someone with a new perspective will do!

I have focused so much on this little mirror and camera device and have come to see clouds from a new perspective. I am curious how scientific technology has shaped/shapes our understanding of the world around us. While I know relatively little about this specific topic, I have taken classes that have dealt broadly with this topic. I have gotten in contact with David Galaty who is teaching a history class on Science, Technology, and Culture and who might have some sources/ideas for me. It is very exciting to have a direction and plan, even if I don’t quite know what to expect. I think looking at technology as an instrument to view the world is very relevant with the work I have done to understand how different cloud observing instruments (Lidar, satellites, ceilometers, TSIs) emphasize different aspects of clouds and can change our perspective.
