DS Training & User Group

[Spring 2017 note: The below is dated but still may contain helpful links!…email us if interested in more training.]
The DS multisite runs on WordPress, the most popular web development platform in the world—see here and here to get a sense of its stature. If you are a member of the Lewis & Clark community, you may want to learn more about the WP-based DS multisite to gain professional skills, or just to have a more enjoyable experience; check out the opportunities below! Or, if your L&C department, program, or office would like to utilize the DS multisite to support student scholarship (e.g., for a course or group site, or for student sites), we ask that you take advantage of these opportunities so that you can provide the support your users will need.
  • Training sessions. Starting spring 2016, we will offer 1 hour group training sessions, focusing on primary user- and admin-level support needs of priority to the group (see this support categories mindmap). We may eventually award digital badges for each topic you master! Participating departments/programs/offices: you may nominate one or more students, staff, or faculty members to receive training as your go-to support person(s)—we ask you to participate in at least one training session, and optimally more. Sign up here to participate!
  • User group. Portland has a robust WordPress Meetup user group, with over 1750 members representing a wide range of skills levels and interests in WP. We plan to launch a Lewis & Clark-based WP Meetup user group starting spring 2016 and meeting monthly, including DS multisite users/admins and others on campus who use WordPress (e.g., those with WP.com sites). You’ll get the opportunity to trade ideas on your sites, get help and advice from peers, and make sure you are in the know on the world of WordPress. Stay tuned for updates, or contact us for more info.
