Fuji Summer 2014

The program focuses on Mt. Fuji as an actor in, and a product of, both the physical world and the human imagination. Participants will complete a rigorous orientation spring semester 2014. The seven-week program devotes two weeks to in-country orientation, four weeks to service project-based learning, situated research, and ecological analysis in the towns surrounding Mt. Fuji, and one week to final project documentation and program synthesis. Highlights include cultural and geological outings throughout the region and a summit ascent of the volcano.
Munich 2014–15

The Year of Study in Munich program is administered by Lewis & Clark College in cooperation with Reed College and the University of Puget Sound. The program is affiliated with the University of Munich. This is a full-year program with a full-time director and a staff of Lewis & Clark faculty. The program begins with a five-week “pre-semester,” where students take intensive language courses. This is followed by the “winter semester,” which runs mid-October to mid-February, and the “summer semester,” which runs from mid-April to mid-July. Students have a variety of options for the two-month break between winter and summer semesters, including internships and travel grants.
Vietnam Fall 2014

Study will focus on a broad interdisciplinary introduction to the history, language, culture and politics of this Southeast Asian country. During the first and longest component, the program will be located in Ho Chi Minh City where students will be immersed in extensive language study and introductory course work. Seven to ten days will be spent in the central region, the ancient capital and historical center of Vietnam. A final segment of the program will be offered in Hanoi, the contemporary seat of the government. Weekend and day trips will supplement and enrich each course.
