This website is devoted to student scholarship done as part of the Imagining the Global initiative during 2014-15. The site will display content related to student field-based experiences as part of IG-related programs. Students will interpret their experiences via our IG themes, which also afford an opportunity for comparison across programs. The site also features related events and specific help not covered under the more general digital scholarship help site.
The cover image is a version of Buckminster Fuller’s Dymaxion map, a view of the world as projected onto an icosahedron. Like all imaginings of the global, the Dymaxion map offers particular insights. One such inference of significance to Fuller was that there is no right way up! This may be momentarily disorienting to the person who expects to see Earth’s hemispheres and poles oriented as in standard world maps, but reminds us that these are only conventions.
