Four infographic/posters later, and I still love it! I really enjoyed making the poster actually; I’m not sure how successful it actually is, and I think I will need to revise my “conclusion” and “results” sections, but so far I’m happy with it! I really tried to boil it down to the most essential information, since I’ll be standing right next to it to fill in the gaps. After about an hour of trying to figure out how to arrange everything, I decided that there were three essential questions a viewer would ask: 1) What do I need to know? (background/introduction/situated context) 2) What did you do? (methods/results) 3) Why does this matter? (conclusions/implications). I’m hoping that this new layout makes the progression obvious and very clear.
I wasn’t exactly sure how this poster fits in with my infographic. It all relates, and I ended up incorporating the information in my infographics in my poster, but I wasn’t sure if they were supposed to be embedded into my poster, next to my poster as supplements, or what. I will have to discuss this layout issue with the ENVS Festival of Scholar organizers (aka Liz or Jim).
In the process of making my poster, it also became even more apparent how insecure I am about my conclusion. That’s the part that I really think I need to work on in my draft, and when I created my conclusion it became even more obvious because I didn’t know what to put in it.
