Reaching a Decision Re: Urban Planning

Reaching a Decision Re: Urban Planning

September 17, 2015 By Tasha Addington-Ferris

Figuring out a topic that I am interested in enough to work on for the next two-plus years has been difficult, and I would continue to argue that I am no where close to having a definite interest.  The step that pushed me in the direction of urban planning was during an activity for class that required searching databases for articles that we needed to summarize.  At first without realizing it, I found myself looking for articles with keywords like “urbanization” and “city development”.  Once I realized the trend that I found myself on, I purposefully pursued the idea.

Now finding myself in a true search for concentration-related research and literature, I have started to compile articles with directions that question the concept of urban sustainability, city governance, and city climate change resilience.  Even though there are so many ways to approach urban planning, and I have much more in-depth research that I would like to tackle before committing to any one way, I am comfortable with the direction I am headed.
