Objects of Oppression: How Different Perspectives of Logging have Affected Douglas County

Douglas County and the logging community have been under financial strain due to legal battles with the government over logging and forest management.  Much government environmental policies are developed from general public opinion of what environment/al means, such as forest conservation and the Endangered Species Act.  Popular discourse of environmentalism is very different from that in Douglas County.  This research will be focused on economic and education data and the impacts of those realms on political power.

Also, start with a brief history of Douglas County!  If you are looking for more, some key words to Wiki would be Douglas County, O&C Railroad, O&C Revested Lands, Northern Spotted Owl, and the Endangered Species Act. 

As I put this project together, my work will fall under two main questions:

How can privileged perspectives of knowledge be oppressive?

How have environmental policies affected Douglas County?
