Today is February 10th, and we have officially been in Spain for one whole month. Thinking all the way back to Portland on January 9th, saying some really hard goodbyes, it is surprising to realize that a month has already gone by. The first month has not only gone by, it has flown by!!
Madrid was a great place for this whole adventure to start. A huge city with so much to learn and so much to see. At first I was so in love with Madrid, I was a little sad that we were not studying abroad there until April. The city was so fun and busy, with beautiful people, and beautiful things to see. When we left Madrid and arrived with Sevilla, I started to get very nervous about being in my new home for the next 3 months for the very first time. It didn’t take long for those fears to fade far into the distance because I am IN LOVE with this city. Every morning I get to walk across the Guadalquivir River, past the Torre Del Oro, just as the sun has finished rising, while talking with my awesome new roommate. Right before turning for school we get to walk right past the beautiful cathedral that literally takes my breath away every day.
Every day I am taken aback when I realize where I am and what I am doing. Everyday I become overwhelmed with bliss, shake my head and just smile to myself. I feel so lucky to wake up every morning in Spain. There is so much to experience and I feel that I have learned more in this last month than I could have learned in an entire semester in Portland. When I think about how a whole month is already behind me, I realize that I need to take advantage of this adventure. Just appreciate where I am and how lucky I am to have this opportunity.
In light of this, I am off to Morocco this weekend and then Barcelona the weekend after that! Life is good… and Spain makes it even better!
