I-along with my peers-went on a four day trip exploring the costal part of Spain. The trip itself was a blast with visits to the beautiful Alhambra, a royal city (palaces included) located in Granada, a jaunt to the Balcony of Europe and to a beautiful coastal city where we watched the sun set over the ocean. Along with all the fun we were given a lecture by a professor of Anthropology about immigration in Spain. She talked of racial discrimination, housing segregation, undocumented workers from the continent of Africa, etc. Her talk really peaked more of my interests in the race history, modern day context and its future in Spain. I’m hoping that I can delve more into this topic for my research paper-10 pages in Spanish, yikes!-for my Immigration and Crossroads class at the center. This sunday we take off for a week long trip to Northern Spain. We will be cruising through Santiago, Salamanca, Oviedo and Cacere.
