I can’t believe that it’s already March! In just two weeks, for spring break, I’ll be heading to Italy to explore Rome, gorge myself on pasta, and find myself completely lost. I’m excited to go explore some more but I’m also looking forward to missing Seville. I know that sounds completely insane, but in my experience of being a Third Culture Kid, I find that being away from the temporary place you call home makes you appreciate it so much more. I’m also excited to be in Seville for a couple days of break to take part in the festivities of Semana Santa. My friends and I have already seen men practice carrying pasos along the routes that they’ll be taking. Essentially, various men carry huge statues of the Virgin Mary, Jesus, etc from their local church to the main cathedral. It is considered a honor to do so and many seem to gladly partake in carrying hundreds of pounds worth of religious artifacts. I’ll be sure to upload photos and videos from that week!
