Hello, readers. I know you may be few, but that doesn’t make me any less excited to share my experiences with you all!
The first week has been big, not surprisingly. I’m going to have to summarize many points because or else it will be a novel. We have been in Arusha these past seven days and it has been wonderful. Every day we spend 4-6 hours studying intensive Swahili and recently we have even picked up the classic 4B pencil and started art classes.
Last thursday we went into town. Lots of bartering and bumbling Swahili efforts. The people are all amazing. Very kind. They smiled at me even as I stumbled through my poorly pronounced, limited collection of their language. We met some amazing women from the DARE foundation. They had the biggest smiles and best laughs. I feel like people are the most beautiful when they are radiating joy. These women were. And even 48 hours later I am still shimmering from the effects of their bliss.
The group is amazing. This place is amazing. This experience is amazing.
Peace out from halfway across the world.
Cheers,
Dorcy
