I walk around through the halls of museums often, crying at art, taking notes, moving all around paintings to get the best view I can. I plan on visiting a museum every single day that I am in London. But, I want this time, to learn not only how I view art, but also how other patrons view the art. I will be volunteering at the Kenwood House in London as a Volunteer Explainer. The Kenwood House holds many different kinds of art pieces in elaborate rococo style rooms with a glorious garden with modern sculptures scattered around it. I’m excited to finally be a docent and to explain art people and help them see art the way I perceive and to help them make their own decisions about how they see the art as well.
When I am not at the Kenwood house, I will be interviewing people, taking notes at every museum I go to. I want to make a paper about how people react to art depending on their age and where they are from. What do they think of it? How does their opinion differ from someone younger than them or if they’re from the opposite side of the world or the opposite side of London? I am extremely excited to see where my research takes me.
