The Vortex is a cool spot to see improvised music of all sorts. While many people automatically think of jazz when they hear the word “improvised”, many of the acts that play here don’t quite fall in that category–or really any preexisting category for that matter. Sometimes spoken word and dancing are involved in the performances. This venue is pretty much entirely volunteer-run, and shows are relatively inexpensive. This venue also hosts jams that are open to the public. If you are looking for musical adventure, the Vortex is a great place to spend your evening.
