In London, I hope to volunteer at a community theatre like KDC Theatre in Central London (In reality, I hope to volunteer AT KDC (although I emailed the technical director once and have received no reply)).
KDC Theatre is a London-based amateur theatre group whose mission is to provide Londoners with an opportunity to be involved in a theatrical production. Their production history – exhibiting a diverse range of shows – suggests that they have been in operation for at least 5 years. Their current season will include Woyzeck (!!).
From previous experience, I would expect my tasks to vary. I could just work odd jobs, but I could also help out in production management and technical theatre. As a rule, I am pretty happy doing just about anything at a theatre.
It occurs to me that KDC may not have a dedicated space (that I could organize/clean/etc.) (NOoo), but that is to be learned. I plan to contact them again. I imagine there are other excellent opportunities that remain to be investigated as well.
