On March 13th (almost a month ago which is craaazzzyy!) Kyrie, Sarah, Fiona, and I all went to the Harry Potter Studios! It was about an hour away from South Ken, and we got there with about 3 hours to roam around. you start the tour by watching a video about the studios and then a curtain lifts and you see the doors to the Great Hall!
We then continued into a big warehouse with a bunch of sets, props, and costumes from the movies. It was amazing, mostly because the level of detail on all of these props is unimaginable. Especially when you think of how much time it takes to make something that is on screen only for a few seconds.
You also see the Hogwarts Express and some outdoor sets as well, which was really exciting! You then go back inside to the “creature shop”, where they create all the creates, dummies of the characters, and even an animatronic head for Hagrid. Because the character who plays Hagrid is not actually a giant (bizarre, I know), when they shoot wide shots, they have to put an animatronic head on a larger body in place of the actor. The create shop was definitely my favorite part of the studios. The last room however is the most memorable. Accompanied by the soundtrack of the movies, you walk into a large room with a model of Hogwarts castle, which is used for wide shots of the school.
(Look at how cute Kyrie is!)
This was a really cool day and it was amazing to see how high quality and intricate all the props, sets, and costumes were. If you like Harry Potter and find yourself in London, this is definitely worth the trip!
