Some of my most positive and inspiring experiences so far in London have been at my internship. I feel so grateful to be working with an organization that holds the same core beliefs as me. Although I’m not always doing the most interesting work, my placement is spot on with the work I want to be involved with in the future. So far I have worked on fundraising, organizing groups for LGBT history month, reaching out to other homeless LGBT organizations for the youth conference later this year, and, the one I’m most excited about – helping kickstart their new online mentoring program, interAKT. With this, I get to bring my perspective as both a young person and a member of the LGBT community. I appreciate that my coworkers at the Albert Kennedy Trust are doing their best to somehow include my experience and knowledge into my internship. It’s made the experience very rewarding so far, and I’m looking to forward to the rest half of the semester with them!
