I have now been in Italy for exactly 2 months and its been a whirlwind time. One of the best things about living here is how easy it is to travel! Our school schedule worked out where we have three day weekends every week, which means lots of time to explore the world around us. One of the first weekends, a friend and I took the bus to Venice/Venezia for the three days. We were able to fit a loooot of stuff in those few days! The Venetian Glass Museum, Bridge of Sighs, Piazza San Marco and simply wandering around were all so much fun and even though it was a quick trip I loved every minute of it. I’ve also been able to go to Merano in the North, Catania and Siricusa in the South, multiple day trips to Florence, and am currently working out the details for a long weekend in Rome! Train tickets can be as cheap as 8 euros roundtrip and Rome is only 3 hours away from Siena which makes for an easy adventure. Ryanair is also a great #lifehack for cheap flights all around Europe. Returning to the US and its $100+ flights between cities as close as Seattle and Portland is definitely going to be rough!
