Program(s):
While in India I will be researching the different effects of how Hindustani and Carnatic Ragas affect both the body and mind of the listener and performer through the Classical Indian perspective. I will also compare the different modal structures of Classical Indian music with modal structures found in Western music and see if the same correlation of emotional labels can be applied to both schools of music. I will interview mainly Hindustani and Carnatic musicians but will also analyze different interpretations of ragas that can be found in other art forms not relating to sound.
