The Lewis & Clark Cuba program was founded in 2004 and has run on a bi or tri annual basis since then. Our program is based at the Instituto Superior de Arte (ISA), Cuba’s premiere art university, with excursions to Santiago, Trinidad and Pinar del Rio. In the classes, students focus on the construction of the Cuban nation, as well as how race and gender have played out in popular culture. Students take courses on Cuban Popular Culture, Contemporary Cuban Voices, a Field Research seminar and Spanish.
