ENVS220 has been one of my first classes at Lewis & Clark College and my introduction to the ENVS program here. Reflecting on the past two months of labs, lectures, and concentration work, I feel as though I have had some notable personal growth in the “try” aspects of this course.
Try
Initially, I was set on researching avian studies for my concentration, but as this has been my topic of choice for all my past academic focuses, I decided to try another branch of biology I was immensely interested in: fish conservation. It was a wonderful decision and is proof that I have put an emphasis on the “try” aspect of this course.
Grow
Through the decision to try out fish conservation, I have grown as well. I have had to start from ground zero on a topic I was interested in but knew very little about. My knowledge on the current status of fish conservation specifically as it relates to salmon species across the globe has exponentially increased since August when lectures began, and this is solid proof of my growth not only within fish conservation knowledge but also as a student of ENVS.
