Following up on last week’s Lab 8: Surveys, each lab team in ENVS 220 conducted follow-up interviews for a half-dozen students who took the survey and were willing to be contacted for further opinions about the respective survey topics. My team again looked at Bon Anxiety at Lewis & Clark College; specifically for this lab, we wanted to nail down and pinpoint the causes and effects of Bon Anxiety. Each of us did two interviews each that ranged from 8 to 20 minutes each, and the interviews were transcribed for later analysis during the Monday lab session. This lab was yet another practice for qualitative research and skills, and while it was not as useful in terms of analysis of the interview (few good skills were provided, in my opinion, other than the use of Wordle.net), the practice of interviewing students was a wonderful opportunity to further our human-research skills.
