Dear Environmental Studies,
We are looking for student leaders who are passionate about global social justice and human rights. Are you looking for a chance to expand your leadership skills and make a real difference in the world? Then I encourage you to check out Oxfam America’s CHANGE Initiative! Oxfam America is an international relief and development organization working to right the wrongs of poverty, hunger, and injustice. CHANGE is Oxfam’s national leadership, organizing, and advocacy program for undergraduate college students.
CHANGE Leaders are exposed to the international development issues that inform Oxfam’s work, and apply their skills and creativity to run Oxfam campaigns on campus. Selected students participate in a week-long training in Boston the last week of July 2015, which is organized and paid for by Oxfam America. Students then work with Oxfam on campus during the 2015-16 academic year.
CHANGE Leaders:
- Have access to expert skills-based training, resources, materials and year-round support from Oxfam staff;
- Explore policy issues related to global campaigns using a rights-based approach;
- Form positive attitudes and establish connections between their local and global communities;
- Develop confidence and the skills to effect positive, lasting social change; and
- Become part of an active and growing global network of peers working on social justice issues.
