- Earth System ScienceInvolves scientific study of connections between major subsystems (e.g., atmosphere, lithosphere, hydrosphere) of the earth system. Related resources include "Critical Zone" (White and Sharkey 2016), and "Physical Geography" (Welford 2015). See also Anthropogenic Environmental Change.

- EcomodernismEcomodernism is the name given to a movement endorsing human progress and technological innovation in the context of environmental issues. While (like postnaturalism) ecomodernism is relatively recent and its ideas diffuse, ecomodernism has particularly been championed by The Breakthrough Institute of Oakland, CA. Some representative concepts are found in the related Wikipedia article, as well as via ecomodernism.org—which, as the astute reader will see, emphasize decoupling of human development from nature, a relatively recent addition to ecomodernist thought that has been criticized by postnaturalists, and that may not be a necessary corollary of its emphasis on progress and endorsement of technology. Similar to postnaturalism, then, ecomodernism as a contemporary environmental perspective is unsettled and, though its broad cornucopian features may be clear, many of its details are unresolved.
- EconomicsBibliographic resources on economics include "Entrepreneurship" (Samuels 2008), "Enterprise" (Bitzenis and Marangos 2008), "Economic Valuation Methods for Non-market Goods or Services" (Kriström and Johansson 2015), "Environmental Economics" (Perman 2015), "Economic Geographies" (Poon 2015), "Economic Historical Geography" (Lewis and Lombardo 2016), and "Financial Geography of Debt and Crisis" (Funke 2015).

One challenge with these resources is that not all offer a critical context on activism; it may be important to find complementary critical resources.
- Environmental AestheticsBibliographic resources on environmental aesthetics include "History of Aesthetics" (Lamarque 2015), "Environmental Aesthetics" (Brady 2009), and "Environmental Aesthetics" (Carlson 2016), as well as other topics on aesthetics in the Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy.

The two that would seem most immediately relevant to environmental education are Theobald and Rochon (2009), and Thomashow (2016); but they both suffer from a limited notion of the "environment" of environmental education; see Proctor (2015). Students with an interest in education would best draw from the other resources on this page for a good grounding in educational theory and history, then synthesize this background with knowledge from other ENVS topics.

- PostnaturalismPostnaturalism describes a number of recent perspectives on environmental issues that approach nature as a hybrid entity, or that dispense with the term altogether as vague, useless, or harmful. Similar to ecomodernism, postnaturalism is a relatively recent yet diffuse concept, and as such there are few bibliographic resources other than review articles. One leading postnaturalist scholar today is Bruno Latour; also, Donna Haraway did foundational work contributing to postnaturalism, while Timothy Morton writes on postnaturalism from a humanities perspective.
