The Institute for Economics and the Environment (IEE) is very pleased to announce its two spring 2015 Environment, Economics and You Speaker Series presentations. As climate change is one of the most serious environment-economic issues humanity is facing today, the 2015 Series focuses on climate change impacts, policies and solutions. This series, which will continue during fall 2015, is offered in partnership with and support from the Institute for Sustainable Solutions at Portland State University and is free and open to everyone.
On Wednesday April 29th 5:30 – 7:00 PM in Smith Memorial Student Union Room 296 we are happy to welcome Professor Peter Berck to Portland State University to speak on the topic of Agriculture and Climate Change. Professor Berck is the S. J. Hall Professor of Forest Economics and Professor of Agricultural and Resource Economics at the University of California, Berkeley. He is an expert on the effects of climate change on agriculture in the United States and former editor of the most important agricultural economics professional journal.
On Thursday May 14th 5:30 – 7:00 PM in Smith Memorial Student Union Room 238 Professor William Jaeger will speak on the topic of The Challenges of Climate Change Policy: What is in the Toolbox?. Professor Jaeger is professor of applied economics at Oregon State University and has written widely on policy instruments, such as carbon pricing, to help address climate change.
