Dear current and prospective ENVS majors — The ENVS Program is exploring two exciting opportunities, both of which may likely launch fall 2015. You can participate and earn ENVS 244 credit toward your major! Here goes:
- I have heard student questions wondering how Lewis & Clark earned their #1 green ranking from Princeton Review. Some have concerned related matters such as fossil fuels divestment. Problem is, it’s hard to find answers! I’ve initiated a conversation toward launching a new site, “Got Questions?” [about LC sustainability], to which LC students can pose questions and ENVS student editors will research and post answers (with ENVS faculty support), inviting comments toward creating a more transparent and information-rich campus conversation on sustainability.
- The ENVS Program is applying for a PressForward Partnership grant to launch a new site with an old name (to some of us): Situating the Global Environment. Sample PressForward partners range from Ant, Spider, Bee to Zooniverse! Our site would curate external content situating environmental issues around the world, as well as feature related content published by our own ENVS students. PressForward is designed to support the whole process, from discovering content to facilitating editor discussion/decision to publishing approved content. Participating ENVS student editors would work with staff and faculty support to manage and promote this content.
We may have a half dozen or more of these internships available for all 2015! So, if you are a prospective or current ENVS major and want to get between 2-4 credits of ENVS 244 applicable toward your major, do be in contact with me (jproctor@lclark.edu) and/or Nate Stoll (nstoll@lclark.edu) asap. We’re happy to answer your questions as well.
