Dear all — I would like to tour southern OR (Douglas, Coos, Curry, Josephine, Jackson, and Klamath counties) by bike this summer during approximately one week in July, and invite ENVS students to join me. One of my goals is to do reconnaissance for a K-12 ENVS/STEM/outdoor geography education outreach grant that would create summer opportunities for ENVS students. The other (and connected to the first) is to do a listening tour, inspired in part by a recent This American Life episode suggesting that the best way to change minds is to connect with those who disagree with you…and, as we know, environmental attitudes in southern Oregon are quite different from those in PDX! We would use my land near Canyonville as a home base, possibly taking several overnight excursions. You would supply your bike, camping gear, food, etc.
