Do you like receiving money to do cool things? … then read on!
Our names are Leah and Michaela and we are the SAAB co-representatives for the Environmental Studies Program this semester. In case you don’t know, the Student Academic Affairs Board (SAAB) is a completely student-run board that grants funds to students for academic projects. This means if you’re planning on putting on a performance, going to a conference, bringing in a visiting speaker for a lecture, doing research for your thesis, etc., SAAB is a great place to get help with that! To see what some students have done in the past, check out this link:
Previous grants include trips to Finland to study education systems, funding for materials for a senior music composition, and trips to environmental justice conferences!
As the semester is getting under way, we wanted to give you all a heads up on some important dates that are coming up concerning SAAB:
-
All Arts Expression grants and Research grants are due on the first and third Thursday of each month and will be heard within the next two weeks.
-
SAAB also hears Visiting Scholar grants and Conference grants weekly – these grant proposals are due by 4 pm on Thursdays and will be heard within the next two weeks.
In order to submit a grant, you will need to get in touch with two SAAB representatives at least two weeks before you plan to submit your proposal (a list of SAAB reps can be found on our website). Keep in mind that we are co-representatives and only count as a single signer. In-depth instructions for each type of application can be found here.
For more information, visit SAAB’s website – all relevant information is there! You can also e-mail SAAB (saab@lclark.edu), or feel free to contact us (leah@lclark.edu or mkkoke@lclark.edu ). We are happy to meet with you to discuss ideas and/or grant applications.
I hope everyone’s semesters are off to a good start!
Keep it Kale (or collard greens because “sustainably” raised bacon…),
Leah Kenney and Michaela Koke
