This is a “last call” for students interested in an on-campus, funded research position at Lewis & Clark college. I will review applications on Wednesday morning, Jan 6, 2016. In addition to background reading about ecoroofs to familiarize yourselves with this study, you will be able to
- monitor rainwater runoff from the green roof above the new Career Center
- Collect water samples for water analysis of N, P, and heavy metals
- Visit Dr. Cara Poor’s water quality lab at UP to see the water quality analysis.
- Install a weather station on the Career Center roof (May, 2016)
- Keep a detailed lab book with runoff conditions and samples collected
- Earn $10/hour for your efforts, with flexible hours.
Your primary duty would be to monitor the green roof on top of the Career Center for rainwater runoff and collect water samples for analysis from January 2016 through November 2016. Qualifications include:
- Good attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to keep an excellent lab notebook
- Availability to monitor rain events on campus, including times during weekends, holidays, and campus breaks and summer.
If you are interested, please submit a letter of interest (eg. cover letter) by Wednesday morning, Jan 6, 2016. I will review applications at this time, and make a selection.
In your letter of interest, please state your interest in this study, any relevant skills and course work, and your availability to be on campus throughout 2016.
If you are very interested but may not be available at all times, please apply regardless! I may be able to hire multiple students to help with coverage over campus breaks.
I hope you all are having wonderful adventures or a restful break. I look forward to seeing you in the Spring semester!
