Hello everyone,
I’m proud to announce an evening lecture with Dr. Mark A. Davis on Thursday April 7th at 6:30pm. He is the DeWitt Wallace Professor of Biology at Macalester College and is the author of the text Invasion Biology and numerous articles. An article published in Nature in 2011 titled “Don’t judge a species by it’s Origins” has started vigorous debate in the field ecology. He is also the author of “Do native birds care whether their berries are native? No” and the most recent “Little evidence of native and non-native species influencing one another’s abundance and distribution in the herb layer of an oak woodland.” He is an articulate spokesperson on how to approach new arrivals of species in our rapidly changing world. He visits Portland to speak at the SERNW conference and also to talk to us in a lecture titled “Ecological Novelty: A challenge and opportunity for urban managers and planners”.
Please join us for this informative talk that could change the way you think about and value the species around us.
The lecture starts at 6:30pm, Thursday April 7th at Disjecta Arts Center, 8371 N Interstate Ave, Portland OR. If you haven’t been to Disjecta before, the entrance is through the courtyard best found on N McClellan St. We suggest a $5 donation to Ecounite! and tickets are available at the door. We want to give a huge thanks to East Multnomah Soil and Water Conservation District who is supporting this event!
Cheers,
Toby Query
