Portland State University Spring 2016 Environment, Economics and You Speaker Series presents We Need Technology Breakthroughs as well as Emissions Reductions to Effectively Stem Climate Change and invite you to attend. This will be the last lecture of the academic year and will be presented by Dr. Michael Toman, who is lead economist for climate change at the World Bank. He also manages the Energy and Environment Team at the World Bank. His talk is on Thursday April 7th 5:30 – 7:00 PM in Smith Memorial Student Union Room 238. All events are free and open to everyone.
Dr. Toman’s work focuses on alternative energy, policies for responding to risks of climate change catastrophes, investments for greenhouse gas reduction and mitigating climate change by reducing deforestation. Before joining the World Bank, Mike worked at the Inter-American Development Bank and The Rand Corporation. For many years, though, he was a senior fellow at Resources for the Future in Washington, DC, where he authored some of the most influential papers on sustainability, and was an early researcher on alternative energy and climate change.
