GLOBAL ZERO ACTION CORPS
“Global Zero is grassroots organizing at its finest.” -UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon
At Global Zero, the international movement for the elimination of nuclear weapons, we’re fueled by the creativity and passion of young people who understand that nuclear weapons have no place in the 21st century.
Over the last several years, Global Zero has built an international community of leaders and experts to champion global nuclear disarmament. This support is deeply credible and necessary but not enough: creating lasting change requires robust grassroots pressure that can shine a spotlight on the issue and mobilize real action to get us to zero.
That’s where the Action Corps comes in.
THE GIG
The Global Zero Action Corps is a year-long leadership development program designed to train and empower all-star young leaders across the country to tackle the single biggest security threat of our generation head-on. Whether you’re new to the fight or a seasoned activist, we’ll provide the hands-on training, in-depth resources (and cool swag) you’ll need to make a difference — and have fun while you’re at it.
Throughout the year-long program, you and Action Corps leaders around the country will each recruit a local team to spearhead our campaigns and serve as the face of the Global Zero movement. And get real results.
In 2015, our Action Corps leaders were at the forefront of passing the Iran deal, were powerful and vocal opponents of our outrageous nuclear weapons spending, and became a mainstay of the 2016 presidential election as they pushed candidates to make nuclear weapons a key foreign policy issue of this election cycle. As the 2016 presidential election heats up this fall, our Action Corps class of 2016 will be more critical than ever to ensure our next president, whether Republican or Democrat, is a leader in this fight.
WHAT YOU’LL GET
Action Corps is not your average volunteer role.
We’ll give you smart and meaningful actions to execute that fit into our campaign strategy and get noticed. You’ll also have insider access to the latest campaign developments, the most cutting-edge policy proposals, and high-level movement leaders in international peace and security.
The Global Zero Action Corps program is a volunteer opportunity requiring 3-5 hours per week. By the end of this program you will have the skills you need to effectively organize your peers, mobilize them to action, lobby decision-makers, work with the media, and more.
