Hi ENVS,
We are looking for beginning, experienced, and lead naturalists to help with spring and summer programs! We have two environmental education programs are currently accepting applications! Our spring field trip program is in need of a Lead Naturalist, and our summer Nature Day Camp program (which includes camps for preschoolers, elementary students, and older youth) is looking to fill numerous positions June – August.
1. Field Trip Naturalist (Open until filled – starting as soon as possible)
About the program: Many schools, groups & organizations set up individual field trips with Environmental Education to compliment or supplement classroom learning with a hands-on experience in nature. Field trips contain a combination of large group learning, small group exploration, and individual engagement. Field trips contain multi-disciplinary, experiential lessons which are designed to meet national science & environmental education standards. Each field trip includes correspondence beforehand to assure student relevance, any necessary equipment, age-appropriate instruction, and post-trip follow-up and evaluation. Field trip naturalists help to communicate with participating groups, design curriculum, assist with scheduling, and facilitate & evaluate programs with an equity lens.
Information about the program and how to apply can be found at https://www.portlandoregon.gov/parks/article/630989.
Position will be open until filled. Looking to fill this position ASAP.
2. Summer Nature Day Camp Naturalists (Application due date March 31st)
About the program: Portland Parks Environmental Education offers 8 weeks of outdoor camps in natural areas where children spend 5-7 hours a day learning ecology, exploring nature, doing crafts, playing games, and being imaginative. There are two locations of camp most weeks, and we need about 25-30 responsible, well-trained naturalists to lead, teach, and explore with children for the summer. Campers are as young as 3.5 but not older than 12. Naturalists also act as mentors to other staff and volunteers, and they work closely with parents and families to make camp a safe, fun, educational & silly place!
Information about the program and how to apply can be found at https://www.portlandoregon.gov/parks/article/480685.
Due date: March 31, 2017 (We must have all requested materials by 11:59pm on that date)
