Dear students,
Each year, the Pamplin Society of Fellows bestows the Teacher of the Year Award to one dynamic professor of the College of Arts and Sciences. This awards aims to honor undergraduate faculty members that go above and beyond the requirements of their position to enrich student learning in and outside of the classroom. Candidates are nominated and selected solely by students for this honor.
The ideal Teacher of the Year candidate demonstrates:
1. Passion for their field of study
2. Preparedness and grace in the classroom
3. Adaptability to new ideas and diverse learning styles
4. Enthusiasm, wisdom, and compassion as a mentor

All members of the faculty for the 2016-2017 school year are considered eligible for the award, regardless of rank, tenure, title, or department. Candidates are to be judged primarily on the quality over the quantity of the letters of support they receive. Student letters should include concrete examples or anecdotes on how the professor exemplifies the above qualities, if possible.
After finalists are chosen, a second call for letters will be issued shortly following spring break.
The faculty member selected as Teacher of the Year will be invited to deliver an address at this year’s convocation during the New Student Orientation period and honored at an awards banquet on April 19, 2016 .
All questions or concerns regarding the award and selection process may be sent via email to Jackson Thein, Selection Committee Chair, at jacksonthein@lclark.edu.
