Watzek Library is looking to hire a geospatial project assistant for this summer. The Geospatial Project Assistant will help populate Watzek Library’s collection of geospatial resources (geo.lclark.edu) through the following activities:
- searching for and identifying maps for inclusion in the collection
- georectifying and reformatting images of maps and aerial photos in QGIS
- uploading and adding metadata about maps to the geo repository
- modifying shapefiles in QGIS
Qualifications:
- Experience with GIS applications
- Basic understanding of mapping principles (projections, etc.)
- Comfortable learning and troubleshooting complex software
Experiences and Skills needed:
- The software applications QGIS, Geoserver, Google Earth
- Georectification of raster layers
- Modification of vector layers
- Application of geospatial metadata
Schedule Details:
9am-5pm, Mon-Thurs
15 hours/week during the summer months (ability to continue during the school year with workstudy).
