Please join us in Howard 202 on Thursday, Feb 15th from 6-7:30pm for a panel discussion and conversation about climate and energy policy.
This panel will briefly introduce the complex issues affecting local, national, and international climate and energy policy, and then engage in a discussion with the audience about the challenges and opportunities of the energy transition.
The panelists include
Melissa Powers is a Jeffrey Bain Faculty Scholar and Professor of Law at Lewis & Clark Law School. She teaches and writes in the areas of climate change law, electricity regulation and renewable energy policy, and the Clean Air Act. Melissa also directs the Green Energy Institute at Lewis & Clark Law School (GEI). GEI designs strategies to decarbonize the energy system.
Tim Lynch is a Senior Policy Analyst in the Multnomah County Office of Sustainability. In this role, Tim has been a leader in the County’s efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and to build community resilience to the impacts of climate change through policies, programs and partnerships. Tim is committed to climate justice, ensuring that all communities have a voice in decision making and that climate related investments benefit the community equitably.
Jessica Kleiss is an Assistant Professor of Environmental Studies at Lewis & Clark College of Arts and Sciences. With her background in Physical Oceanography, she teaches Climate Science, Oceanography, and Earth System Science courses. She is currently working to develop new observation strategies of clouds in order to validate and improve high-resolution climate models.
