Greetings from Academic Awards & Fellowships!
I am writing to remind you of your invitation to an information session focused on helping outstanding juniors and seniors consider awards they may wish to apply for in coming months. As someone recently named to the Dean’s List, you have earned recognition for your outstanding work at Lewis & Clark, and you may be an excellent candidate for one of the many government- and foundation-sponsored awards available, including funding that could help you, after graduation, to
- pursue graduate study in the U.S. or overseas,
- gain experience with nonprofit work or foreign service careers, or
- develop yourself as a leader, whether in academia, public service, or entrepreneurship.
While some of these fellowships require very high GPAs, many do not. To help you learn more about these awards, consider which ones suit your goals, and strategize for applications, Academic Awards & Fellowships will hold an information session on THIS WEDNESDAY February 28 at 7:00 pm in Miller 105. If you have already signed up, we look forward to seeing you! If not, we hope you can come.
Many academic fellowships have late summer/early fall application deadlines that require planning applications, seeking recommendations, and considering fellowship requirements before summer vacation begins. I will discuss these opportunities and how to be a great candidate for fellowships that suit your strengths and interests. We’ll cover how application processes generally work and how to learn more about specific opportunities. I’ll offer information about prestigious fellowships such as the Fulbright, Rhodes, and Marshall, but also ones you may not have heard of before, such as the Luce, Schwarzman, or Davies-Jackson fellowships.
Check out our website, which includes information about how to schedule an appointment with me. Additionally, we have an awards database that allows you to search for grants that match your interests.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me. I look forward to seeing you!
Best,
Maureen
