My primary objective of this engagement project was to facilitate dialogic communication with the Oregon coast and Lewis & Clark students. This goal evolved into opening a dialogue beyond of what the coast meant to the individual participant, and my focus switched on exploring the validity of distance engagement. It involved an engagement event linking Lewis & Clark students with coastal communities as part of a conservation event coordinated by various Oregon ocean conservation events. It allowed for a discussion beyond coastal conservation, moving towards the validity of distance engagement and using technology as a platform in this context.
Simply put: can those who do not live in by a certain ecosystem exert any sort of valid input on how it is managed?
