Why has dependency remained a quality of the periphery?
How has drug culture changed over time in Douglas County, OR?
After our field-trip to Douglas County in Southern Oregon, I was intrigued by the emphasis by locals on the drug problem which exists there. Some government officials seemed to blame the downfall of the economy, or timber industry, linked (in their eyes) to increased environmental regulations. For this project, I wanted to get a sense of what is happening or what is perceived to be happening, as well as trying to bring it back out, and to look at the situation in Douglas County as indicative or related to periphery areas in general. Includes interview, narrative analysis and some data.
