The Protective Action Decision Model - PADM - was developed as a rubric/model in which a population or individuals interaction with pre-disaster (continuing hazard phase), disaster (escalating crisis), and post-disaster (emergency response) phenomena can be examined in light of the information available to the individual/population on whether protective action should be taken.
It is in addressing the information individuals/populations hold in regards to a hazard risk that we can gain insight into how residents in Pacific County perceive the risks of earthquake hazards.
Through the project I analyzed various textual evidence of the disaster knowledge in Pacific County and found that there is indeed disaster knowledge present but individuals who may experience personal loss or can accurately comprehend the situation will respond in a manner that could be labeled as taking protective action.
