Our lab team studied four categories of values and attitudes related to decision making in Portland, Oregon. Values and attitudes are global decision making factors that are hard to measure. We were interested in the ways in which people and organizations in Portland made decisions based on our four categories. We looked at the ways in which organizations and individuals subscribe to economic, ecological, health-based, and community-based values. We studied this through website coding, online surveys, and interviews. We utilized tools such as ArcGIS, Google XL Minor, Google charts, Microsoft Excel, Google administrated survey, Photoshop, and iMovie. We found that Portland organizations attempt to appeal to the community-based attitudes of their audiences, most often. Comparatively, we found that individuals focus more on economic values when making decisions.
