Welcome to our project record for our ENVS 220 research project! Earthquakes affect a large portion of the world's population, especially those living in seismically active areas. Here in Portland, Oregon, and more specifically Lewis & Clark College campus it is predicted that a major earthquake will hit in the near future. The goal of our project is to examine how the L&C campus is prepared and how the students are reacting to this threat. We, Chrislyn DeMattos, Sierra Nelson-Liner, and Luisa Avila-Tzorin, focused our project on the risk perception and preparedness of earthquakes on the Lewis & Clark College Campus. Through a combination of qualitative methods (a drawing exercise) and quantitative methods (survey) we were able to explore how Lewis & Clark students perceive the risk of earthquakes and if they feel prepared.
