This project is situated with my concentration, and will examine the role of a particular energy system within future energy landscapes. Fuels cells were chosen as the primary subject for the unique scalability, diversity, history, and (theoretical) efficiency of the technology. Key questions to investigate are (1) what types of resources are being devoted to the development of these technologies? (2) what inhibits progression? (3) what determines efficiency? (4) and why pursue this type of energy system? Ideally, the issues both within development and implementation can be addressed to elucidate the possible roles of this technology and what that can tell us about our overall energy prospects and problems.
