Climate change has become “one of the most urgent and profoundly complex challenges we face,” prompting visions of a “new economy” (John Kerry, USA). Within the themes of green capitalism and sustainable development, sustainable business is seen as an important catalyst for the “new economy.” In this thesis, I explore the practices of certified benefit corporations (B-corps) and their movement to “make business a force for good” within the context of Portland, Oregon.
