This capstone is an investigation into the energy storage challenges that are present in the integration of intermittent renewable sources of energy, such as solar and wind. One specific method of energy storage, involving proton exchange membrane fuel cells, was discussed in detail. Theoretical and experimental efficiency, material use, and externalities was used to evaluate this method of energy storage with others within the context of storing renewable energy.
